Thanks to all family members who came out to the BRAMPTON Fame presentation of The Family Guide project on January 13th. It was great to share The Journey Home with you and to have a conversation about our experiences!

When my son first showed signs of mental illness I worked 24/7 on ways to get him some help. As some time went on, I sunk deeper into depression and anxiety, worrying about my son then worrying about my own mental health and who would take care of him if anything happened to me.

  Reply: Yes, when I got help for myself and felt calmer, it helped my relationship with my son. I had a better approach with him and didn’t feel so alone and desperate. This made him calmer and more secure. I believe the help for families should be long term to stay on track and not fall back into the desperate mode.

We presented The Family Guide video clips as an introduction to families at the FAME office in Brampton Ontario tonight. Thanks to all the families who attended and thanks to FAME for hosting us. The Mission Media Company is very happy to meet families and share our online resource. The more families we reach, the happier we are 🙂

I just watched the movie The Journey Home. It was great to see all the hope in the movie and I was glad to hear all the stories. I am planning to watch it again with my other kids who don’t have a mental illness and my siblings who have some idea of what I go thru as a mom but not really.
