An American organization which supports scientific research into the causes, cures, treatments and prevention of brain disorders, primarily schizophrenia, depression and bipolar disorder. The site contains a wide range of research and articles on a range of mental health conditions. It also includes stories of recovery and events taking place nationally.

Bring Change 2 Mind is a national anti-stigma organization aimed at removing misconceptions about mental illness.  Their mission focuses on ending the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness through sharing educational materials based on the latest scientific insights and acting as a portal to a broad coalition of organizations that provide service, screening, information, support and treatment of mental illness.  The organization is a partnership between Glenn Close, Jessie Close and Fountain House, where Glenn volunteered in order to learn more about mental illness. The web site includes text information, video resources and a collection of personal stories from people with lived experience across a range of mental health conditions. Great peer perspective site that shares information in direct terms.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is the agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that leads public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. SAMHSA’s mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on America’s communities. Congress established SAMHSA in 1992 to make substance use and mental disorder information, services, and research more accessible. Mental Wellness Today / Schizophrenia Digest / Anchor Magazine are mental health publications focused on sharing information and experiences related to Schizophrenia, Depression and other mental health conditions. After being diagnosed with schizophrenia when he was 24 and spending years suffering with the illness, SZ Magazine was founded by Bill MacPhee in 1994 to help those who are living with and caring for those diagnosed with schizophrenia. Anchor Magazine and other publications and services have now been introduced and can be found on the company site at Mental Wellness Today.  If you click on the lead articles on the home page, you will be linked to a large inventory of past articles. Orthomolecular medicine aims to restore the optimum environment of the body by correcting imbalances or deficiencies based on individual biochemistry, using substances natural to the body such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, trace elements and fatty acids. Biochemical pathways of the body have significant genetic variability and diseases such as atherosclerosis, cancer, schizophrenia or depression are associated with specific biochemical abnormalities, which are causal or contributing factors of the illness. The therapy, known as Orthomolecular Medicine, had its beginnings in Psychiatry, specifically treating people with schizophrenia using high doses of vitamins and minerals. Orthomolecular therapy may benefit other mental disorders.
